Understanding Teaser Bets
A teaser is a type of parlay where you get to adjust the point spread in your favor on each leg. In exchange for the better spreads, you accept lower payouts than a standard parlay.
NFL Teasers
NFL teasers typically offer 6, 6.5, 7, or 10 points. The most popular is the 6-point teaser because it moves spreads through key numbers like 3 and 7.
- 6-point teaser: Most common, best value on key numbers
- 6.5-point teaser: Extra half-point for slightly worse odds
- 7-point teaser: Crosses both 3 and 7 from most spreads
- 10-point teaser: Massive adjustment but poor odds
NBA Teasers
NBA teasers offer fewer points (4, 4.5, or 5) because basketball has higher scoring and less key numbers than football.
Teaser Strategy
- Cross key numbers: In NFL, move through 3 and 7
- Favorites of 7.5-8.5: Teasing to -1.5 or -2.5 is valuable
- Underdogs of +1.5-2.5: Teasing to +7.5 or +8.5 crosses 7
- Avoid 10-point teasers: The odds rarely justify the adjustment
Wong Teasers
Named after Stanford Wong, these are 6-point NFL teasers that specifically target favorites of -7.5 to -8.5 (teased to -1.5 to -2.5) and underdogs of +1.5 to +2.5 (teased to +7.5 to +8.5). These cross the most key numbers.
